Temple Public Library
In February of 2015 The RLP was asked by a former Georgia teacher attending the annual Georgia Retired Educators Association Conference (where the RLP was doing public outreach) to help her in trying to establish a library in her hometown of 2500 people with 3 public schools. Temple Georgia is 50 miles due west of Atlanta in Carroll County.
The RLP contacted the City Manager and it was determined that the RLP could be of most help with providing shelving to furnish the 4000 sq ft adult and juvenile space. The City of Temple had previously committed $325,000 from local sales tax money for the remodeling of the former city hall into a new library but equipping funds were not yet secured.
In May of 2015 the RLP received generous donation wooden shelving from the Westminster School of Atlanta which was in the process of remodeling its own library and had excess shelving available.
The RLP co-ordinated with the City of Temple and Westminster School to arrange for the pickup and transport of the shelving valued at over $11,000 to its new library home.
The Ruth Holder Library in Temple was formally dedicated on March 12, 2016 and is part of the West Georgia Regional Library System.
