In the fall of 2003 following the
successful installation of a new sewer
system Milner City Council voted to
approve efforts to build a public
library in this city of 500 people. A
library committee was formed and is
currently working with the Rural Library
Project. A site in town has
been identified on city owned land and
fund raising efforts are underway.
Milner is located 20 miles north of
Yatesville in Lamar County. In
preliminary discussions with the Library
Committee the new library will
also include a larger meeting
space for community functions.
The Rural
Library Project presents a check to the
City of Milner in the amount of $1000.
Milner
has raised a total of $150,000 towards
their new library.
